The view of old buildings, older areas of Phoenix has changed and is changing.  The pull to suburbia is diminishing as the central core regains is dynamism and gravitational pull, drawing people back into the urban city.  This pull is not only about the need for people to be together, to see each other and participate in living rather then maintaining their own world in sleeper communities, its also about the resurgence of design, good design, appreciation of style, good building and history.

Mid-century modern homes, and rental properties are selling for top dollar, apartments in older but well kept buildings, sometimes even with original fixtures are renting well and often for a premium.  Apartments built in the 40′ and 50’s often have charm, character and when this is combined with locating the result is desire.  Many tenants don’t want to live in big rat maze apartment buildings with no character or individuality.  Many do but those that don’t seek what they want and may pay a premium to live there. 

The apartment building above is an old structure in Uptown Phoenix.  You often see such building. they are run down, unkept and extremely unappealing.  This particular one has been updated while keeping that mid century modern feel.  Take a look at some of the details; the awnings, the blue roof, the red door and manicured lawn.  This is an old beautiful building. 

There are plenty other such multifamily apartment buildings waiting for someone to bring back to life, to style and reap the reward of a growing premium paying loyal rental pool.
